In the first part of this blog we introduced Google Adwords as a serious options for small businesses looking to increase their sales leads from the Internet. In this blog we'll be looking at three very important areas to work on before you start...

Google Adwords for small business - Part One

Sometimes, even when you have a great website that is representative of your fantastic business, you just can’t get a sufficient number of visitors to your website to generate the sales you require.

This can be extremely frustrating and has become a big, big problem in recent times. The main reason for poor performance is that your website is just not listing high enough in search engines, and the main reason for that happening is that competition is rife, and regardless of the industry sector, the big players spend more on SEO and Internet marketing than anyone else and so dominate the search listings.

Good practice will, in time, begin to address the issue, but without throwing serious amounts of money at the problem, you are looking at months or years before you see the results you need.

There is another option available to small businesses, and that is Google Adwords. For the uninitiated it can seem like an expensive black art at first, but in reality Google have worked hard in recent years to make Adwords a very efficient marketing tool for any size or type of business.

To get those premium adverts on the first page of a Google search you use the Adwords Pay Per Click advertising tool. In general terms, the more competitive your particular marketplace, the more you have to pay to get to the very top of the first page, but if you’re willing to accept a period of trial and error, and some long hours spent researching the options available to you, you can generate a long-term, cost-effective marketing solution that will generate a steady stream of sales or qualified leads from your website.

In the 2nd part of this blog, we will provide a more detailed overview of Google Adwords, and the ways you can improve your own website to make the most of your marketing spend. Then in the 3rd and final part of the blog, we will look at the specific options you can tweak within Adwords to avoid the major pitfall that most businesses fall into - wasting money on unnecessary clicks.
